PREACHER FATALLY
SHOT WHILE TALKING OF AFTERLIFE TROTWOOD, Ohio:
The Rev. Andrew Lofton was explaining the Book of Revelation and urging his Bible students to prepare themselves for the afterlife. Moments later, he lay dying of gunshot wounds next to a pew on the church floor. Police arrested a member of the congregation who also sang in the choir and had sat quietly during Wednesday night's Scripture lesson. Investigators have not determined a motive for the slaying. Capt. Jim Borland said four or five people were talking to Lofton after the class at Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church when Kenneth Nance, 58, pulled a gun and shot the pastor several times. Lofton, a 65-year-old father of 11, died at a hospital. Church member Richard Eiland said Nance was apparently homeless when he joined the church five or six years ago, and later supported himself as a cab driver. |
