Skin Grafting
is a completely repulsive book from the late 70's meant to be
the most comprehensive and up to date book for surgeons of that
era.
If you ever need
a reminder not to smoke in bed, simply flip through this gem filled
with the frightening skin scraper that shreds up skin as if it
were cheese. Brutally blunt illustrations show the proper way
to push and lift flaps of skin, as well as how to clean the fat
and gristle off to get a nice, smooth, bacon like layer.
This book is the
exact reason I don't mess with blown out pilot lights, fireworks
or arson. The first and second pictures show the smooth operation
of the scraper. The skin is removed like it's bologna! This is why I don't own a motorcycle - I know
they put you under and all that but hell, it still has to hurt like mad. The illustrated picture to the right is a helpful illustration on
technique.
A doctor Frank McDowell describes in the introduction - "skin grafting is a fundamental
surgical procedure, as necessary for closure of many broad wounds as suturing is for linear wounds." Who am I to
argue with the good doctor?
The
picture on the right looks extremely unpleasant - to tell you the truth
I have no idea what is going on there - looks like they slapped some
new lips on maybe. Last but
not
least - the picture to the left features a revolting fatty mess. Ugh.
